Happy Holidays

Hi All!  I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and are enjoying the holidays.  I finally treated myself  to some 'me' time today and hope to catch up with my  blogging buddies over the next few days.  This was the first Christmas that I can remember that I was frantic with last minute cleaning, shopping and cooking until the very last minute before our company arrived; and I hope it never happens again!  My New Year's resolution is definitely going to be "better organization",  and I am also resolving to make Christmas cards throughout the year!  I may feature some type of Christmas post each month as a way to fulfill this resolution.

No, I did not start a new stash of cards for next Christmas.... just sharing a card I made my husband.  It's one of my favorites, probably because I used felt (something I hadn't incorporated on a card in a very long time).  I love the feel of this MFT felt and it cuts like butter.  Also it reminds me of a Christmas stocking I had as a kid...

The vintage image is one I found on the Cleariy Vintage blog, and I am happy to report that my husband really liked it.  My very best wishes for a very  enjoyable holiday week and a very Heathy, Happy New Year!  Stay warm and drive carefully in all the snow!

Winter Song Birdies

Happy Sunday everyone!  Here's my take on today's Corrosive Challenge #94 -- SketchyTime!  This sketch was perfect for my Doodle Pantry circular sentiment from the Winter Song Birdies Set .  I combined it with the image called Winter Song Birdies -- Color Doves.  While I was at it, I decorated the inside of my card with a sentiment from the Holiday Ants Set.  Below is a photograph:

Talk about quick and easy...  It took me longer to take the photographs.  If you are like me and under the gun trying to madly finish your cards, I highly recommend giving pre-colored images a try.  Hope you have a great week and thanks so much for stopping by.

Christmas Carols

Hi everyone, sorry I've been MIA this week.  I went through my stash of Christmas cards earlier this week, and just about had a panic attack when I discovered I was about twenty cards short.  I did get about 10 cards made over the last couple of days between Christmas shopping, chores and such; and hope to get the rest finished over the weekend.  Although I vowed to make more postage-friendly cards this year, this one had a mind of its own...

I used a Tim Holtz stamp, added lots of layers and embossing, and finished it with a fun flower I created with punches and dies.   Wonder how much postage this one will take?

I will be entering this in the Creative Card Crew Challenge -- Anything Goes

Have a great weekend and thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Supplies: Stamp - Tim Holtz Component Collection; Paper - Deja' Views DSP, MM Noel card pad, Jingle Bells Music-Flair Designs, SU! naturals ivory and sage shadow; Ink - Versafine smokey gray; Accessories - Marvy flower punch, Sizzix branch with leaves die, SU! embossing folder, sanding block, deckle scissors, fancy brad and dimensionals from my stash.

Merry Christmas to You

Hi there!   Last week, Laurie, illustrator and owner of the Doodle Pantry, released some wonderful colored sets of  Winter Song Birdies.  Talk about Laurie coming to the rescue.... I needed  to make a card for my teenage nephew, and the pre-colored  "Merry Christmas to you" sentiment ( which is included with all the sets) was perfect!

This card was a snap to put together, and would be very easy to mass produce.  I kept things very simple and just used papers  from my scrap bin, some dies and 3 'Cloud 9' epoxy dots.  I just need to finish the inside pocket to hold a gift card, and I'm done.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges;
Sew Many Challenges #43 -- Red and Green
Paper Cutz Challenge #69 -- Anything Goes
Freshly Brewed Challenges (FBC24) -- Winter/Christmas Theme
Top Tip Tuesday Tip #12 -- Anything Goes

Glad I'm finally up and running, because today is release day at the "priscillastyles" Store, and I get to share a card I made with one of Priscilla's new images called Christmas Ornaments. Butterflies in a Row

Hi All!  Here's another card using the "priscillastyles" butterfly image.  I wanted to try something different, so I played around in 'Word' and created a frame to showcase a row of butterflies.  I think it gives the image a whole new look.  Don't you just love what you can do with digis!

MMSCC77 - Butterfly

Happy Tuesday!  Here's my card for today's Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge (MMSC77).  The sketch this week (which you can find HERE) can be fancy, clean and simple, or somewhere in between.  My lovely butterfly image is from the "priscillastyles" Store.

I used some creative license and turned the sketch on its side.  The four panels surrounding the butterfly started out as 4 plain panels of metallic cardstock -- 2 gold and 2 silver.  I dry embossed the panels with a Sizzix embossing folder;  then rubbed with different shades of metallic rub-on paste and sponged with distressed inks.  All 4 panels were heat embossed with clear embossing powder/dazzling diamonds before they were adhered to the card base.  The butterfly was colored with Copics, pencils and Spica pens before coating with glitter.   The card was finished off with gold metallic stickers and rhinestones.  IRL, the colors of the butterfly match the colors in the 4 panels.  Don't know why I  couldn't get the camera to cooperate... perhaps the shine and sparkle distorted the colors?

Qualifying Challenges:
Flutter by Wednesday #127 -- Open Challenge -- anything goes as long as it has a butterfly, fairy, or angel on it.
Speed the Cat's Friends Challenge #26 -- Use die cuts or a punch on your card (Faith, congratulations and many thanks for bringing us 6 months of wonderful challenges!)
Stamp Something -- October Digi Day Challenge -- Use a Digi.  It can be an image, paper, sentiment, etc.  I used a digital  butterfly image.
Totally Gorjuss Challenge #53 -- Sparkle -- bling, glitter or anything that sparkles -- I used both and then some.
2 Sisters Challenge #10 -- Anything Goes

So glad you were able to stop by and take a peek at my card today.  Thank you and have a great day!
Supplies:  Stamps -- Large butterfly from The Butterfly Set available from "priscillastyles" Store; Paper - Recollections metallic silver and gold cardstock, butterfly printed on lavender cardstock purchased at Walmart, GP white, generic white base: Ink - computer, Copics, pencils w/gamsol, Spica pens to color image, various shades of metallic rub-on paste by Craft-T Products, Tim Holtz distress inks; Accessories - Spellbinders plain & scallop rectangular dies, Sizzix embossing folder, clear embossing powder, dazzling diamonds, matte fixative, Stampendous metallic stickers, and rhinestones from my stash.

Birthday Birdie

Good Morning, Everyone!  Today I would like to share a card I made with a new Doodle Pantry image called Birthday Birdie.  It is one of the new releases that  Laurie Wilson is adding to her store today.  I just love this sweet image.

After coloring my image with Copics, I added a distressed look to the edges by sponging with distress inks and heat embossing with embossing powder.  I also added two coats of Utee to the entire panel... sorta cracked glass without the cracking.  I paired the birdie with an embossed panel of white core, textured cardstock.   Some simple sanding makes the embossing pop. Very easy and fun to do.

Here are all the images and sentiments included with the Birthday Birdie set:

I colored my image with Copics and Spica pens in tones that match the background paper.  I added Flower Soft to the stocking's cuff and some bling to the greenery.  I finished my design with a poinsettia border, and some crinkle ribbon which I made last week.  Yeah, another Christmas card for my stash!

This card qualifies for the following challenges:

Candy Corn Ants

Yikes, October is flying by... Thought I better get some Halloween cards made before the holiday passes me by. For this card I used the fun image from the Doodle Pantry called Candy Corn Ants.  My image was colored with Copics and I also went over the yellow and orange sections of the "candy corn" with glaze pens.  The background paper is a piece of "faux leather" cardstock that I have been hoarding for ages.  I also dug into some Halloween embellishments leftover from last Halloween.  It always feels great when I create with supplies I have on hand rather than run out and buy new. Besides my image the only new item is my very vanilla seam binding which I dyed and crinkled.

Challenges i used:
If the shoe fits... Scrap It!: FF#51 Holiday challenge :   Pick a holiday, any holiday and make something!
Stamp Something challenge:  Halloween Somethings theme
Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings Challenge #10 :  RRR#10 -- Create a Halloween card or treat bag

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Supplies: Stamps - Candy Corn Ants by Doodle Pantry; Paper - GP white, SU! very vanilla, generic ivory base, The Paper Company "faux leather"; Ink - computer, VersaMark ink pad, Copics, Sakura glaze pens in orange and yellow, distress inks in tea stain and antique linen for sponging, distress reinkers to die my ribbon; Accessories - Spellbinder dies, deckle scissors, clear embossing powder, dazzling diamonds, embellishments from my stash, SU! very vanilla seam binding that I crinkled.

MMSC75 - Hat with Cat

Good Morning!  It's time for another Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge (MMSC75).  For my card today, I used one of the images from the "priscillastyles"  Halloween Witch Hat with Cat Set (includes 5 images).  After coloring my image with Copics, I heat embossed the hat with clear embossing powder mixed with dazzling diamonds.  The hat's buckle was finished with tiny rhinstones.  IRL, the hat sparkles nicely.

I also used one of the witch hats (included with this set) to create my background paper.   Very fun and easy to do with digital images... Just resize and format your image to your liking as you normally would do.  To create the checkerboard, I copied and pasted the image into a Word document, then hit the tab key and repeated across the page, alternating rows..  Very easy and fun to do!

This card incorporates the following challenges:
Paper Romance Challenge -- Make a Halloween or Fall Card.
Stamp Insanity (SISC30) --  Make a Halloween card with a "trick it or treat it" theme.
Fab and Funky Challenge #43 -- Use a digi image.

Christmas Joy

Hi everyone!  Here's a CAS Christmas card that I made using a sentiment from Sugar Creek Hollow called Christmas Joy. The sentiment was punched out using an ornament punch. Next, my ' faux ornament ' was sponged with some rhubarb stalk Memento Ink before heat embossing... One coat of clear EP mixed with dazzling diamonds and 2 coats of Utee.  This technique gave the ornament some dimension and a nice glittery shine which was hard to capture in my photograph.

My card qualifies for the following challenges:
Stamp Something Challenge:  Something Punchy --  I used a label and ornament punches,  as well as a Sizzix die.
Cute Card Thursday Challenge #133:  Make your Own -- I made my ornament using a SCH sentiment, SU! ornament   punch, silver cord, dazzling diamonds, Utee, Clear EP

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!  Thanks so much for your support!
