Cattails

Happy Friday!  I am really looking forward to this weekend since the weather is suppose to be nice.  It's been a rainy/windy day here, so instead of running around doing errands and getting soaked, I decided to play some challenges. My image is from the Cattail Pond set recently released by the Doodle Pantry.  I love this image because it can be used for just about any occasion and isn't gender specific.

I printed my image directly on some Doodle Pantry digi paper.  Coloring of the cattails was done with Copic Markers, and I added some shading with pencils and gamsol.  I kept my design pretty simple and incorporated the following challenges:

Fun at Fairy Knoll Challenge 39 (FK#39) -- Feeling a Little Green
Tellen's Place -- Buttons

Supplies:  Stamps - Cattail Pond set by the Doodle Pantry; Paper - Digital kraft gingham by the Doodle Pantry from the Juicy Strawberry set, SU! crumb cake and whisper white, PTI select white and bitty dots in green; Ink - computer, Copic Markers, pencils w/gamsol; Accessories - Spellbinders die, corner rounder punch, PTI ribbon and a button from my stash.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend; thanks for visiting and happy crafting!!

A Welcome and Sad Goodbye

Good Morning.  Yesterday, Doodle Pantry announced the new members of the Doodle Pantry Creative Team for the March -- August term.  I am thrilled to welcome this talented group of artists; and look forward to working with them.  In alphabetical order by last name:

The announcement of a new team is always exciting.  However, it is always tinged with a little sadness because  the present team will be leaving us at the end of the month.  I have been inspired by, and blessed to work with our present team of fabulous women.  I want to wish Alica, Anita, Christa, Claudine, Dawn, Jerusha and Shanon a fond farewell.  I will miss you!

DPBC8 -- Baby Chick

Add caption

Good Morning!  Today is release day at the Doodle Pantry.   Laurie has just added 5 new sets of images, as well as 1 new set of St. Paddy's Day digi papers, to the shelves of her Doodle Pantry Store.   I am excited to share two cards that I made using the new Baby Chick set for DPBC8.  This new set comes with both pre-colored and uncolored images.  Here's a peek at what is included with this set.

My first card uses the pre-colored version of the chick.  I combined it with a DP sentiment from the Spring Birdies set and a sheet of plaid DP digi paper from the just released St. Paddy digi papers.  To qualify for the DPBC8, I  embellished my card with pearls and dazzling diamonds.

For my second card, I merged 2 uncolored chicks (reversing one), in Ms Word.  My image was colored with Copics  and sponged.  I  added 4 colored rhinestones and spritzed my image with shimmering spritz to qualify for DPBC8's theme of sparkle and bling.  (Unfortunately, the shimmer does not show in my photograph.)   A  shimmery ribbon completes the theme requirements.

Now about DPBC8... Today starts a new  Doodle Pantry Challenge (DPBC8) on the Doodle Pantry Blog.  The theme for DPBC8  is sparkle and bling.  You do not have to use a Doodle Pantry image, but you must use a digital image.   To participate, just create a new card or project following the theme.  Laurie has some fabulous prizes up for grabs.  Just click HERE to go directly to the challenge to get the details and to link your card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Sure hope you join in the challenge... have a fun day and happy crafting!

MMSC91 - Lucky Ladybug

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying your day.  I was suppose to be cleaning my craft space today, but got sidetracked and made this card instead.  I used a new ladybug image.  It's one of the free digi images that is available for download at the Crafters Digital Art Center for the Freebie Digi Challenge (cdacfdc17).  This digi image was created by Priscilla Heaton, owner of the "priscillastyles" Store

My sketch is from today's Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 91 (MMSC910).  I colored my image with Copics Markers; then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used my favorite dotted DSP from PTI.  Dies, punches and ribbon made quick work of finishing up my 'Lucky Ladybug' card.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Digital Tuesday Challenge #98 -- Use a Die Cut  (My frame and green and white borders were cut with dies.)
Woodware USA Challenge #14 -- Embossing  (My image panel was heat embossed with clear EP.)

Guess I can't put it off any longer... gotten get some cleaning done.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!

Grassy Hills with Sheep

Hi all!  Here's a card that was a lot of fun to make.  I created this little scene by combining 2 Doodle Pantry images --  the newly released Grassy Hills background set and the sheep from Sheep Dreams

The green dotted background that I added to the grassy hills was actually done on the computer (Word) before layering the sheep in the foreground.  After sponging and coloring  the background and sheep with Copics, I layered my grassy hills background onto a panel of SU! 'cloud' DSP.   Then I had fun with the finishing touches ...Flower Soft for the grassy hills; and a coat of Fun Flock for my sheep.  Other embellishments include some homemade crinkle ribbon and a button from.my stash.

If you love to create scenes, you really should check out the 2 new landscapes sets (Grassy Hills and Cattail Pond) that Laurie has added to the Doodle Pantry Store.  You can find them here.

This card qualifies for the following challenge:
Paper Sundaes Challenge #55 -- Two or more images

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

MMSC90 -- Steamer Trunk

Happy Tuesday!  Hope you are enjoying your day.  Today I have a card I made for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 90 (MMSC90).  My Image and sentiment are from the "priscillastyles" set called Steamer Trunk, and is available from the "priscillastyles" Store.

My image was colored with Copic markers.  I used a rag moistened with blender solution to give an "aged look" to the exterior of the trunk.  My paper piecing was done digitally  by using the "format picture" function in "Word" to remove the background and to add a patterned fill to the interior of the trunk.  Finishing touches include adding some highlights to the trunk's hardware and flowers with glaze pens as well as sponging the edges of my image and sentiment panels with antique linen distress ink.

My card qualifies for the following challenges:
Stamp Something - February Digi Day Challenge -- Use a digi  ( I used a digi image and sentiment.)
Paper Play Challenges '11- Week 5  - Stamp it Out -- Use your stamps (rubber or digi)
One Stitch at a Time Challenge #48 -- Do it with a Digi - Anything with a digi (I used a digi image, sentiment, and paper.)

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I really appreciate your taking the time to visit!

Supplies: Digital Stamps - Steamer Trunk Set by "priscillastyles" Store; Paper - SU! early espresso, soft suede, PTI select white, generic white base, Webster Pages DSP, computer-generated dotted background paper; Ink - computer, Copic Markers and glaze pens for coloring, antique linen distress ink for sponging, stardust clear gel pen, blender solution; Accessories: Nestabilities die, flowers by Recollections for Michaels, dimensionals.

DPBC7 -- Kitty Bouquet

Good Morning!  Sorry I've been MIA.  We were out of town for a few days, and I have been having a hard time getting back in the groove.  I think the lousy weather has given me a case of the blahs.  Don't know about you, but I am more than ready for Spring.

When I got a peek at the new Doodle Pantry set I used for this card, I was delighted to be reminded that milder days are ahead.  This set is called Kitty Bouquet and is one of 5 new sets being released today.   In addition, Laurie has added 2 new SVG files to the store.  Click here to see all the new goodies, freebies, and what's in this month's grab bag.
