Masking with Shapes

Here's one of my 'practice assignments' for a (My Creative Classroom) online class I'm taking called Sponged Ink Backgrounds for Cards. This particular technique uses shapes as masks. I used 2 masks for this project. The first mask was made with a Nestabilities die; the second mask was made with a MS leaf punch. I really like the look of this technique! The only stamp used on this card is the solid flower from the Verve set called Love's Flower.
I highly recommend this MCC class instructed by the talented Kim Teasdale!
Supplies: Stamps - Verve's Love Flower; Paper - watercolor card base, SU! sage shadow; Ink - SU! sage shadow, soft sky, old olive, Versafine spanish moss; Accessories - sponge daubers, clear embossing powder, MS ribbon, PTI scallop border die; MS butterfly punch, buttons and a pearl.

C4C32 -- Easy as 1, 2, 3!

Yep, it's easy as 1, 2, 3 over at Crazy 4 Challenges -- The challenge is to use 1 ribbon, 2 buttons or brads, and 3 punches on your project. First, I added 2 brads to my image. Then I made a flower pot out of 3 punches -- a 1" circle punch (cut in half), MS flower punch, and a handheld small circle punch for the center of the flower. I used my 1 ribbon to wrap around my flower pot before adding the flower accent. I had fun with this one!
Thanks for visiting and hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

OCCC - Break Out the Buttons!

Yippee, another button challenge. This week's Our Creative Corner Challenge is to break out the buttons! I love buttons so I couldn't resist joining in the fun.
For my creation, I used one of the new clear photopolymer stamp sets just released by KLM Digital Designs. I chose the crocus from the Crocus Window Box Stamp Set, and I am really impressed with how well it stamped. I colored my image with Prismacolor/Koh-I-Noor pencils and gamsol. Then I covered the entire flower with a VersaMark pen before embossing with clear embossing powder. Except for some layering, I kept my design very simple and clean. Hope you like the results.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!!

CBCB4 -- Birth Bath Joy

CLEARLY DELIGHTFUL BLOG CHALLENGE #4
(use keyword CDBC4)
*** Sponsor: New! Doodle Pantry digital doodle shop***
Happy Easter Monday! It's time for another Clearly Delightful Blog Challenge. We would love for you to join in the fun. This month every participant will receive one FREE Doodle Pantry image of their choice from Laurie Wilson's new store, Doodle Pantry. (To see the images you can choose from, click here.) In addition, one randomly selected participant will win Blog Candy with a value of at least $25 worth of new card making/scrapping supplies!
It's super easy to be a participant in the Clearly Delightful Blog Challenge. All you have to do is:
  • Follow this month's challenge theme -- use dry embossing and some yellow on your card or project. (You may use any stamp or digital image of your choice, but please no past creations. Please create something new!)
  • Be sure to post a direct link to your creation, using Mr. Linky, on the Clearly Delightful Blog.
  • Also, you must leave a comment on the Clearly Delightful challenge post AND mention which Doodle Pantry image you want for free just for participating.
  • Deadline for submission is Monday, April 19.
Now about my card...
My sample showcases 'Bird Bath Joy', created by Laurie Wilson and available at Doodle Pantry. To satisfy this month's theme, I included yellow in my color scheme, and although it is hard to see in the photo, I did dry embossed both panels with my Nestabilities dies. My image was colored with Copics, and Liquid Glass (CTMH) was applied to the water in the bird bath as well as the water droplets. Embellishments include page pebbles, ribbon, and butterflies punched with a MS punch.
Hope you like my take on the challenge. For more samples and details, click here to go the Clearly Delightful Blog.
Can't wait to see your creations! Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting.
