CAS24 Happy Summer!

Here's to the lazy days of summer! I really had fun with this quick and easy card which I made for today's Clean and Simple Challenge on SCS. Today's challenge is to use the colors of summer -- turquoise, orange and yellow. I think it took me more time to photograph my card than it did to make it!
The fun DP and embellishments are from Me and My Big Ideas. Sentiment is from the PTI set called mailbox greetings. The 'ocean's floor' is a torn piece of creamy caramel cardstock on which I glued a mixture of salt and creamy caramel reinker to simulate sand. The 'sun' was made with 2 different scallop punches.
Hope you like my take on clean and simple. Have a wonderful evening!
Supplies: Stamps - PTi- Mailbox Greetings; Paper - Me and My Big Ideas DP, yo yo yellow, only orange, creamy caramel, generic white base; Ink - Versafine onyx black, pumpkin pie reinker for sponging the sun, creamy caramel reinker for mixing with salt to simulate sand; Accessories - Me and My Big Ideas embellishments, SUl and Marvy scallop punches, dimensionals, salt and a two-way glue pen.

Colonial Garden

Finally catching up on birthday cards today... I made this for a friend with some new rubber called Colonial Garden by Impression Obsession. My image was stamped on textured DP and colored with various pastels, Copic markers and a white Prismacolor pencil. Although you can barely see it in the photo, glossy accents were applied to the window. I also added Flower Soft (love this stuff!) for texture and dimension.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend... Don't forget to smell the flowers! And thanks so much for stopping by!!
Supplies: Stamps - Impression Obsession, Inc. - Colonial Garden; Paper - DCWV Old World textured DP, SU! sage shadow, light green shimmery cardstock from my stash (I think it is Recollections or the Paper Co.); Ink - Versafine onyx black; Accessories - Clear EP, Inkssentials Glossy Accents, Flower Soft, SU! pastels, Pebble pearlescent pastels, white Prismacolor pencil, Copic markers, MS bow punch, EK success corner rounder, Oval Nestie, MS Pearls, and Modern Romance ribbon.

This is the third and last in the special 'Christmas in July' series of Twisted Thursday challenges. This week's challenge/twist is to create a shaped Christmas card using a shape other than a standard square of rectangle.
So please join in the fun! Here are deets you need to follow in order to win an early Christmas present which includes a variety of S2G Christmas stamps/papers/embellishments:
  • Create any shaped Christmas card.

  • Deadline for submission is Sunday, July 19, at midnight PDT.
For my shape, I chose the stair step. I learned this easy fold at one of Vera's fabulous card classes. You can find the directions for Vera's card here.
I started out with a 4-1/4″ x 10-1/2″ piece of PTI white cardstock. This paper was scored at 1-1/4″, 2-1/2″, 4-1/4″, 6″, and 8-1/4″; then folded into stair steps beginning with the smallest fold. My S2G image is called We Won't Go Cats (SGH 10) and was stamped on PTI white and colored with Copics. The 'risers' of my stairs are layered with SU! glorious green and S2G digital DP. I then added faux metal brads, red rhinestones, Sandylion poinsettias and a Lasting Impressions metal sentiment and I was done!
Supplies: Stamps - Shirley's 2 Girls - We Won't Go Cats (SGH10); Paper - S2G Digital Paper, SU! glorious green, PTI white; Ink - Versafine onyx black; Accessories - clear EP, faux metal brads, red rhinestones, Sandylion poinsettias, Lasting Impressions sentiment, Nesties, and Copics for coloring.
For more inspiration, check out these wonderful creations:
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Wishing you a fabulous day and sure hope you join in the fun!

CTD50 Striped Wipe

T
his is my take on this week's Color Throwdown Challenge #50. I used the Striped Wipe Technique to showcase this week's colors -- real red, tempting turquoise and kiwi kiss.
This technique is so easy! Just fold a baby wipe a couple of times, dot with a drop or two of each color of reinker on the folded edge and wipe across glossy cardstock. Couldn't be easier! I've included the SCS resource for this tutorial here.
I love how this background looks with my image. Since the background colors are bright and vivid, I decided to use black as an accent and left my card unadorned except for the metal sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a fun weekend!
Supplies: Stamp - SU! Upsy Daisy; Ink - Versafine onyx black, SU! real red, tempting turquoise, and kiwi kiss reinkers; Paper: SU! basic black, real red, tempting turquoise, kiwi kiss, glossy white and generic white base; Accessories - clear embossing powder, K&Co. metal art.

Happy 4th of July everyone! Welcome to The Scrapbook News and Review "Oh Say Can You See" 4th of July Blog Hop! I am so glad you stopped by to visit as well as join in the SNR Card Universe Blog Hop. If you came here from Andrea's blog, you are in the right place. If not, you may want to hop back to the beginning which starts at SNR Card Universe.
About my card..... Meet Ace who is a Shirley's 2 Girls digital image called 'Ace- Red, White & Blue' (DG20). Isn't he the cutest! I colored my image with Copic markers and added fun flock to Ace's belly. (This is the first time I tried flocking, and I just love the results. Although you can't see it in the photo, it adds dimension and such a cool look to your image. Plus it's not messy like glitter.) In addition, I paper pieced Ace's sign, which reads, 'three cheers for the red, white and blue'!
Supplies: Stamps - S2G Ace-Red, White & Blue (DG20); Paper - SU! ballet blue, night of navy, PTI white, Recollections red & DCWV textured red; Accessories - Ribbon and metal stars purchased at Mike's; Fun Flock in white, clear stardust pen, Fiskars star punch and MS border.

Today is the first of three special Christmas Twisted Thursdays. We hope you join in the fun and get all red, green and jolly with us! For more information, be sure to check out the S2G Paper Crafting Contest Blog.
Here is a summary of the details:
  • Create a Christmas card using the sketch below. Be sure to add this week's twist -- add distressing.
  • You are not required to use S2G Christmas stamps. However, if you have them, why not use them! If you want, you can even purchase a new Christmas digi stamp and paper for your very own TT project here!
  • To win, leave a comment and post a direct link of your creation, using Mr. Linky, on the S2G Paper Crafting Contest Blog. Please use keywords S2GSC17 and shirleys2girls.
  • Deadline for submission is Sunday, July 5, at midnight PDT.
Here is the best part: The winner of this week's challenge will win "an early Christmas present" which includes a variety of S2G Christmas stamps, papers, and embellishments!
For my card I used the S2G image called We Won't Go Cats (SGH10). I used a Cuttlebug EF to emboss the base of my card. I also used the Emboss Resist Technique on two strips of white CB embossed cardstock which were brayered with red ink and sponged with pink to match the S2G DP. These were adhered to the top and bottom of my card base. My image was colored with Copic markers. It wouldn't be Christmas without some sparkle, so I embellished my card with glitter and red rhinestones. Although it is barely visible in the photo, I distressed the edges of the panel of S2G DP. For more inspiration, please check out the rest of the design team's creations:
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Sure hope you get in the Christmas spirit and start creating. This just might be the time for you to win!

Colonial Spring in Kraft

Just playing around with my Colonial Spring stamp from Obsession Impressions. This time I stamped my image on SU! kraft in Versafine crimson red. The image was colored with SU! pastels and highlighted with Copic markers. For some reason the photograph on this blog post looks washed out compared to what the actual photograph looks like in my iPhoto gallery. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Have a super week!
Supplies: Stamp - Colonial Spring by Obsession Impressions; Paper - SU! Kraft, generic base; Ink - Versafine crimson red; Accessories - clear EP, SU! pastels, Copic markers, Flower Soft, Deckle scissors.

A Quick Birthday......

Last week I got together with a friend and helped her put together some cards for her stash. For some reason, my husband took a fancy to this card and took a photo of it w/o my even knowing it. He thought I should post it on my blog..... I had to chuckle to myself because if a card is blue he usually loves it..... so this post is for you, sweetheart!
Now about the card...... My friend, Diane, who is a beginner cardmaker, really likes to use card kits. I made this card for her stash using one of her Anna Griffin kits. Talk about quick and easy! The best part of the afternoon was the time I spent with Diane. it was such a fun day!
Supplies: Everything except the deckle scissors, foam tape and adhesive were included in the Anna Griffin card kit.

CPS121 - Gracie on the 4th

This card was inspired by this week's CPS sketch 121. Although I tweaked the sample sketch by changing its shape to a standard size as well as turning the sketch on its side, I think it pretty much follows the layout. My image is another new digi image from S2G called Gracie on the 4th. Just for fun, I wanted to see how she would look in colors rather than the traditional red, white and blue. I think I pulled it off, but would love to hear what you think.....
Have a great week and thanks so much for stopping by!
Supplies: Stamp - (DG19) Gracie on the 4th by Shirley's 2 Girls; Paper - all papers including DP by SU! except for the PTI white (which I love for coloring); Accessories - Copic markers, SU! scallop circle & EK Success circle punches, Cuttlebug swiss dots EF, SU! ribbon, crystal star stickers, and a star embellishment from my stash (maker unknown)

OCCC - Stars

Today's OCC Challenge is to use stars on your card/project. I was thrilled when I saw this challenge because I was really itching to play with one of the new 4th of July images and matching DP recently released by Shirley's 2 Girls.
Although I couldn't capture all the sparkle in my photo, my image was enhanced with a silver Spica pen, silver glitter and lots of Dazzling Diamonds. Red rhinestones and small crystal stars were also added. The image was colored with Copic markers and paper pieced with silver cardstock. My image is called Independence Cake (DG122). You can find all the new 4th of July digi images and matching DP here.
Hope you like what I came up with for today's OCC Challenge. Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Brilliant Blue, Riding Hood Red , Recollections silver, and Shirley's 2 Girls Bang Digi DP; Accessories - Copic Markers, SU!
