Attitude

Hi all!  When I saw that Deidre Mosher Designs was sponsoring this week's Sweet Sketch Challenge# 173, I just had to play.  This image is called 'older couple dancing with Attitude', and i think it's a hoot!

I colored this fun image with Copics and Irojiten pencils and did some paper piecing in Photoshop.  Then, it was just a matter of adding a flower (made with a Purple Daisy Designs stamp and matching punch), and I was done!

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Sweet Sketch Wednesday #173 -- sketch; theme is celebrating women
CRAFT Challenge 174 -- Make your own embellishments

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!!

I will also be entering this card in the following challenges:

Twick or Tweet

Happy Sunday!  Today's card combines 2 Doodle Pantry sets -- the new Piratey Ship and the older Pirate Birdie Color Plus to create a Halloween card for one of our newest family members.  Loving that we finally have some babies in the family!

As you may know, I like mixing and matching sets, and am tickled to have the birdie standing on the ship's deck.  (Just had to crop the bird's legs before merging.)  The sentiment is another mix and match --  "Twick or Tweet" from another  DP set, Birdie Bat, and "Matey" from Pirate Birdie.

I will be entering this card in the following fab challenges:

Raise the Bar Challenge #111 -- Anything with Wings
Send A Smile 4 Kids Challenge -- Anything Goes for Kids
The Corrosive Challenge #158 -- Animal Companions
CI Paints Inspired by:  A Sketch -- I was inspired by Rainy's Days Sketch for Sept. 2012.  (See link above.)

Hope everyone has a great week!  Thanks for stopping by.

Quirky Scarecrow

Happy Friday!   Just a heads up to let you know that a surprise mini release has been added to the Doodle Pantry store; and I am thrilled to be able to showcase the new Quirky Scarecrow set.  This set comes with everything you need to create some fun Fall cards including outline and pre-colored images, sentiments, as well as 2 different patterned digi papers.

I combined one of the pre-colored images, digi paper, and a sentiment from the set to create a Center Step Card.  I started with a 5 1/2" X 11" sheet of SU! pumpkin pie cardstock to create the center step card base. Then it was just of matter of adding some green and yellow layers, before adhering my image and panels of digi paper.  Embellishments include layers of die cut 'grass', a flower and two buttons.  Very easy and fun to make!

I will be entering my card in the following challenges:
Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #79 -- Shape card, no squares or rectangles
Bearly Mine -- Anything Goes
My Time to Craft Challenge #188 -- More than One Fold
Lollipop Crafts Challenge #89 -- Fall Frolic (autumn theme cards or projects)
Fab 'n' Funky Challenge #138 -- Harvest Festival

Enjoy the weekend and be sure to stop by Doodle Pantry to see all the new sets and samples by the team!

Harvest Time

Happy start to a new week!  It was a beautiful day here in Columbia with sunny skies, cooler temps and no humidity.  Yep, a new season is almost here.  With that in mind, I have a card to share that combines two of my favorite Fall sets, Let Us be Thankful and Maize Corn by Doodle Pantry

I merged the turkey from Let Us Be Thankful on top of the corn stalks from Maize Corn to create my scene.  Coloring was done with Irojiten colored pencil.  I distressed the edges with brushed corduroy Distress Ink;  then covered my image with VersaMark ink before heat embossing with two coats of clear embossing powder. Final step was framing the image with 2 different Spellbinder dies.

I will be entering my card in the following challenges:
Bloggers Challenge -- Bring on Fall
Raise the Bar Challenge #110 -- Celebrate Fall
No Matter the Challenge (NMWC) #2 -- Die Cuts and/or Punches
Challenges 4 Everybody #2 -- Anything Goes

Thanks so very much for your visit.  Hope you have a wonderful week!

Oodles of Poodles!

Greetings to all my blogging friends and team members.  Sorry I've been MIA.  Wish I could say that I have been on a fabulous vacation. Instead, I have been recuperating from bunion surgery, making it hard to craft when you have to take it easy and keep your foot elevated.  I am glad to report that I'm back to crafting just in time for release day at Doodle Pantry!

For today's DP release, I got to play with the adorable new set, Poodles of Fun.  This set comes with both outline and colored images, sentiments and digi papers; and the best part is that this set is free with any purchase until Sept. 24.  In addition, from August 31 through September 9, there is a special Doodle Pantry sale going on -- take 35% Off your entire cart contents, excluding gift certificates.  Click here to get the necessary codes.

The samples above showcase the Poodles of Fun set which I merged with other Doodle Pantry sets.

  • First card in the next row combines a party hat, gift box and sentiment from Birthday Accessories Color Plus.  I paper pieced the gift box and party hat digitally and also altered the color of the hat to match.  Digil paper used is also included with the Poodles of Fun set.

As you can tell, I love to mix and match sets --  something that is easy, fun, and helps stretch your crafting dollars.  Laurie's Doodle Pantry sets make 'mixing and matching' a snap to do.  I highly recommend you give it a try!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Saturday!  This is the first time I have stamped with rubbber in ages.  I used a cute Penny Black stamp which I colored with Irojiten colored pencils. I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

For the card pictured above, I used the outline image which I colored with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  I also added some shading with Copics.  Although it is hard to see in the photo, I added lots of glitter to the stag and holly leaves.  Besides all the glitter, finishing touches include ribbon, red rhinestones, and the Spirelli Technique

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

So glad you were able to stop by... Have a  wonderful day and thanks for visiting.

Butterfly

Here's my card for Lesson 2 -- MCC's  Colored Pencil Techniques with Marie Browning.  We were to make a card incorporating one of the techniques in Lesson 2.  I combined two of the techniques -- coloring with pencils on colored paper and layering color (which is different than blending color).

I used a combination of of Irojiten and Koh- I-Noor pencils to color the "priscillastyles" butterfly.  I also used a Sakura clear star pen to add some sparkly accents.

I will be entering this card in the following challenge:

Snowman Bulb

Happy weekend, everyone.  Don't know about you, but I find it hard to believe this month is almost over.  Where did June go?

I had so much fun with Susan's (aka rainy) June Sketch that I used it again to create another Christmas card.  This time I used Sassy Cheryl's Merry Christmas Snowman Bulb.  The background and scarf were digitally paper pieced.  Coloring was done with Copics and highlighted with a silver Spica pen. I also covered the bulb with glossy accents and sponged the edges of the image panel with soft sky ink.  Although it doesn't show in my photo, there is lots of sparkle and shine on both the papers and image.
